Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Wow it has been 2 years since my last post.  So much has happened in these 2 years.  For those who do not know, I am back in school.  This is my third semester back at the University of Houston.  Before my accident, I was studying to become an elementary school teacher.  Now I am studying Computer Information System AND I love it!

I have so many reasons to be thankful and so many people to thank.

Thank you...

Omma aka Mom
For the past 4+ years, you have been my rock, my motivation, and my best friend.  Without you, I would have never gotten this far.  Life would definitely not be as fun.  Although my accident has made a few things difficult, I am thankful that it happened because it brought us closer than I could ever imagine.  You drive me crazy (in a good way) and make me laugh every day.  I love you my beautiful mom!

Appa aka Dad
You are our family's moneymaker.  You have worked hard every day for the past 28 years through the sizzling hot summers and chilly cold winters to ensure that your family lives comfortably.  I know you are tired of working, but you continue to push on to provide for us and our relatives in Vietnam.  I am thankful to have such a hardworking parent to look up to.  I love you my strong dad!

Trang aka Melissa
You are my inspiration in the way you live your life.  You followed your heart and chose a career to help others.  Although you do not get paid nearly enough for all the work you do, you still go to work every day with a positive attitude.  You have always lived a pure and honest life.  I admire your love and devotion to God.  I love you my amazing little sister!

Tuan aka Steve
Although you are always making fun of me, I envy your sense of humor and friendliness.  Many times you leave me speechless without a single comeback to your teasing.  You have always been great at making those around you feel at ease.  You might be known as a mama's boy, but that's only because you are a filial son.  I love you my fun-loving brother!

My Girlfriends aka An, Kim, and Gracia
Kim, An, Gracia and I
Taken last year for my birthday.
It still amazes me that we all have been friends for 10+ years now.  You ladies keep me sane.  I do not know how I would have made it through some of my toughest times without you all.  It makes me so happy to see how much each of us have grown.  I cannot wait to see where the future takes us all, and I know for sure you all will be in mine.  I love you three crazy ladies!

My Older Sister and Aunt that I have always wished for aka Nghi and Her Mom
Mothers & Daughters
Taken this year for my my birthday.
At first, you were a co-worker.  Then you became a friend, but after my accident you both became family.  Both my mom and I look up to you both as our older sisters.  Your kindness has no boundaries.  My family is so blessed to have you two in our lives.  You both have brought so much support and joy to our lives.  We cannot thank you two enough.  I love you my long lost family members!

My Mom's Girlfriends aka Bac To and Co Hien
I do not know how my mom would survive if she did not have these two best friends to talk to every day.  They keep her sane with all their love and support.  Many times I have eavesdropped on their phone conversations (only because my mom talks really loud) and cannot help but laugh at their silliness.  I love you two as if you are my aunts!

My Other Family aka My Relatives
Every time any of my relatives come into town they always make sure to come by to visit me.  I feel very loved.  They give me words of encouragement.  I love it when my second (or is it third?) cousin sends me texts and pictures of her adorable son.  I cannot wait for my other cousin to her baby boy next month.  I wished all of my relative lived closer, so we could celebrate Thanksgiving together.

My Target Family aka My Former Co-Workers
Bernadette, Nghi, Dan, & Trent
Taken in May @ Pappadeaux.
I loved working with you all.  I learned so much from everyone.  I always had a blast every time I went to work.  We have all gone our separate ways now, but it is always a joy when we have our dinner get-togethers.  I miss being around you all.  You have been so supportive of me before and after my accident.  I can't wait till our next get-together.  I love you all!

My Medical Team aka My Doctors, Nurses, and Therapists
Dr. Berliner & I
Taken in July before he left for Colorado. :'(
I have been incredibly lucky to have crossed path with some of the most talented medical professionals.  They have all helped me with my journey after my accident.  I actually consider TIRR, the rehab hospital, as my second home.  I'm sad that my favorite doctor, the great Dr. Berliner, no longer works there.  He's the one who pushed me to go back to school.

My School Team aka My Professors and Project Group Members
So far I am having a grand time at school.  My mom is too.  All of my professors have been so understanding of my situation.  They are so dedicated to their fields and teachings.  This semester I have group projects.  My group members have been very flexible with me.  They do not question my abilities at all.  I have enjoyed working with most of them.

My Project Client aka Jimmy
I am so glad you messaged me out of the blue just to see how I was doing (like you have been doing for the past 10+years we have known each other).  One thing led to another, and I was able to get you to agree to be my client for one of my school group projects.  You have been so helpful.  I do not know what I would have done if you had not reached out to me.  Probably project-less.  You are awesome!  Love you!

My Everything aka My God
Of course I have to save the best for last.  You have given me so many blessings.  My family.  My friends.  My health.  My intelligence.  And many more.  I know my accident happened for a reason.  I do not know what that purpose is, but my life has made more sense ever since.  I feel like my life is finally going in the right direction.  You have opened my eyes to all the greatness that I took for granted in the past.  Please continue to open my eyes and heart to all the good that this world has to offer.

Happy Thanksgiving
From my family to yours!
